After yesterday’s January 6 hearing, it’s time for Feline Friday

For those who sat through the first part of these public hearings, Feline Friday will likely come as a relief!

Bessie is Queen of the Kitchen Counter, as you’ll see in this week’s batch of photos, but Kali has recently challenged her right to claim other parts of the house. This has involved several chases, some flying fur, a safe spot under a chair in the living room where Bessie can’t be easily reached.

Kinikini strolls through later and reminds them that he, after all is said and done, is the big cat of the house.

But, as I explained to someone else recently, this status hierarchy is pretty fluid and somewhat situational. Will it be the same next month? I wouldn’t bet on it.

Right now, we’re feeling fortunate to have a cohort of cats that are all in good health, not too old, and pose fewer worries than has been the case over the past eight years or so. Less of that constant background stress post by a house full of senior citizen cats.

Let’s see…regulars to Feline Friday should be able to tell Kali from Bessie. Both are calicos, but Kali has the beauty marks by her nose. This week, Bessie has the remnant of a scratch just above her mouth. You can see it clearly in the first photo.

In any case, enough blather. Here come the cats.

Yes, Feline Friday is extra welcome this week. Whatever extraterrestrial has seized Lynn Cheney is doing a great job, but cats are still an excellent palliative.

Chaney, rings a bell, the old man with W. Bush?
Perhaps the Cat’s are intrigued? Getting confused, Democrats now lead by the Chaney’s?
