What would we do without the cats in our lives, whether up close and (sneeze) personal or via a virtual connection?
Yesterday Kinikini and Kali got to take a ride (which they hate) to have their claws trimmed (since they seem to hate my cutting their claws more than they hate the carriers and the drive). They apparently yield to authority at the vet and are usually good patients. At home they turn in wild squirming banshees when I try to get to their claws. This week, Bessie was the exception. It took a couple of tries, but I managed to get all but one claw, and I’ll get it tomorrow. But at a certain point, those claws are dangerously sharp weapons and need to be gotten under control. Sometimes I call for assistance and have someone come to the house to help wrestle them into compliance, but it’s easier for me to just pack ’em up and head for the V-E-T.
This week Kali was strutting her stuff and trying to put Bessie in her place, so a bit more chasing and hissing than normal, but no real damage done.
Bird watching continues to be a favorite pastime, although Kinikini doesn’t seem to get into it much. The two calicos are avid birdwatchers, more than making up for his minimal interest. By the way, I just checked whether the plural is “calicos” or “calicoes.” The online dictionary I consulted gave both a thumbs up.
In any case, ready or not, here come the cats!

Love that pic of Bessie behind the window shade….
Fridays are definitely worth the wait!
Do you have the rear paws clipped as well? I find just doing the front paws is usually more than enough. When they let me.
Yes, we try to do the rear paws as well.
