The cats seem to be enjoying having us back, and they’ve quickly settled back into their routines. When we’re gone, they revert to the wary ways they learned while living in a colony and stay out of sight. Bessie is the only one to finally accept pets from a cat sitter. The others are reduced to streaks of motion as they race towards their favored hiding places in different parts of the house.
When we got home Tuesday evening, all three made their appearances within a minute or so. Kinikini was, suprisingly, the first to greet us, although he remained a bit wary, ready to run if necessary. Bessie was second, and her presence calmed Kinikini down. And then Kali strolled into the room once the way had been cleared for her.
Since our return, Bessie has been almost glued to Meda’s lap, where she happily settles down and stays until Meda finally has to move. Kinikini has been after me for his share of attention. And Ms. Kali spreads herself around and gets her quota of petting from both sides.
So here come the cats, ready or not.

Thanks for another Friday respite from all that is messed up in this country.
The green cushions, and green outdoors background really flatter Kini’s green eyes, and the sunny shining on the wood floor heightens the gold in his fur. Good photography work! You could do a photo book just on Kini posing on the green cushions!
