Here come the Feline Friday cats!

The cats are here early today.

It been a bit of a week. The little black visitor has been making regular appearances again at morning and evening mealtimes. He had gone “missing” for a couple of days, but soon got back on schedule. He (I’m now betting its a “he,” so I’ll run with that until I get a closer inspection) first showed up here on the 4th of July. The inside cats are keeping an eye on him, and he does spend a bit of time peeking into the house.

I think it was Wednesday when first let out a funny meow when I went out to pour some fresh water into his bowl. That was a breakthrough of sorts. So yesterday we stopped at the Hawaiian Humane Society and picked up a cat trap, then made a Saturday morning appointment for a vet visit. My theory was that I would have enough time for at least a couple of attempts to lure him into the trap.

Well, that whole plan now looks unnecessary. Yesterday afternoon was another breakthrough. Black cat has gotten comfortable with standing back about six feet or so and waiting when I deliver food to the back deck. But when I went out Thursday afternoon, he walked over like he was ready to rub against my legs. So I just reached down with one hand and touched him. He jumped away, startled. But then he came back, and soon was happily on the receiving end of lots of petting. I came back inside, but returned a few minutes later, and we went through the routine again. By the time I brought out his dinner, I was able to pet him while he ate. Another breakthrough.

So I don’t think the trap will be necessary after all. I’ll just pick him up and deposit into a carrier. The problem is going to be timing. I haven’t quite figured that out yet.

Meanwhile, back to the inside gang….here come the week’s photos. Enjoy.

Ha ha! Well he’s definitely not feral!! He’s a lucky guy if he decided to start hanging out at Casa Lind. Word must be spreading on the Kahala Cat Wireless. Glad you’re planning on getting him fixed…one of the best things you can do for free roaming kitties. House cats never know how good they have it.

Next time get the Fancy Feast can in focus and you can sell a great pic to Purina of Bessie licking her lips, enjoying her meal! 🙂

The resiliency of cats always amazes me. I am so glad this little found your back door. We just adopted a new kitten. He showed up under our chicken coop and within 1 week was under my neck purring away. His name is Cooper. We had his first appointment yesterday for id chip, worming, physical exam, feline leukemia test (negative) and vaccine. We will have him neutered at 5 months. We have 3 adult males and they are having a good time with their new brother.
