A look at Mike Miske’s home in Portlock

Mike Miske’s large residence above Spitting Caves in Portlock isn’t much to look at from the street, although real property tax records show the building boasts over 8,200 sq feet, with five bedrooms and 6 baths on nearly 38,000 feet of land overlooking the ocean. It is appraised for tax purposes at $6,068,100, but court records show Miske claimed to have spent more than $11 million on its construction, and another $2.3 million for his original purchase.

As you might predict, the building permits issued for the property valued the job at a fraction of this amount, meaning that the permit fee paid was also a fraction of what it might have been.

These first photos were included in the application for a search warrant for the property filed in July 2020.

But change the vantage point, and the house is spectacular! I guess the lesson is that crime pays?

Hmmm, so how did this slide past DPP? My own small home addition of 60k was DPP valued at 90k, decreasing the permit fee only after I had to differ with written proof of supplier and contractor prices.
This guy got away with a lot of stuff for years.

It would be interesting to know whether any Miske money made it into the hands of DPP personnel now charged or convicted in the bribery scandal, or anyone else around City Hall.

This is one successful case of a Homeless teen, who worked hard and attained exceptional riches. From sleeping on Waimanalo Beach to owning multiple Business, Boats and Homes, that include this luxurious jewel.
This proves that with enough Government assistance, anyone can get ahead in Hawaii.
Unfortunately, many other youths will see and hear about this and are actively emulating this. Perhaps a lottery would be a better exemplar.

That is astonishing. How much crime had to get committed for all of that? What a contrast to his current accommodations.
