Feline Friday: Celebrating Kinikini’s second anniversary

I brought Kinikini home on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, so we were away from home on the the second anniversary of his adoption.

He was the second cat we adopted from a cat colony at the top of Aiea Heights. Kali, a beautiful little calico, was the first. Kinikini was the second. There were hints that perhaps Kali was Kinikini’s mother, but there was no immediate flash of recognition.

We put Kinikini by himself in our small spare bedroom. so that he could become accustomed to being in the house, and to get used to us. It took Kali a week before she allowed herself to come out from under the futon to greet me.

However, after just 24 hours–maybe even 20 hours–Kinikini joined me for a bit of petting. He barely hesitated.

To set the stage, the folks who tended the cat colony had called him “Mr Marbles.” We later changed that to Kinikini.

Fast forward not quite two years.

This was the scene when we arrived home last night, two years and two days after Kinikini’s initial arrival in our house.

This homecoming makes me very happy. Thank you for sharing these precious moments. In the second video, Kinikini appears much lighter in color. I’m sure it’s the lighting. Coming home is a wonderful thing.

Thanks for sharing. The Lind cats are all so cute, healthy and they seem to be content and happy that you’re both back home now ????
