This week I started early on the cat photos. This involves leaving a camera or two in convenient places, and remembering to grab one of them when the cats wake up from their 18-hours of daily naps. So lots of good photos to choose from this week.

I have to say that Kinikini has a very expressive face! He can express surprise, interest, a bit of a cringe, intensity, and on and on. He just seems to have a wider range of expressions that the two calicats. Perhaps I’m just biased….

An old friend who lives on Maui stopped over one afternoon this week. I checked in advance to make sure he wasn’t allergic to cats, since the forecast was for rain, and that would keep us in the house during his visit. He lives in the country, said he started feeding a cat 5 or 6 years ago. One thing led to another, and he now has in excess of 14 cats that stop by to eat. So, no, he’s not allergic.

We have never lived with quite that many cats. I think our highest stable number was nine, and there may have been a short period that kittens temporarily increased that. So with just three indoor cats, we no longer feel like the crazy cat people on the street.

Anyway, here they are!

Remember the cast. Kali, the calico with “beauty marks” around her nose and chin. Kinikini, the big orange male with prominent tabby markings. And Bessie, calico #2 without the facial coloring. Age-wise, they are in the same order, with Kali being the oldest.
