Instead of getting back to the house in the mid-afternoon on Wednesday as planned, our flight landed shortly after 7 p.m., and we were finally dropped at our house about an hour later.
And, once again, all three cats were right there to greet us as soon as I opened the door!
They should have been hungry by that time, but they wanted to interact with us more than they wanted to eat.
And just like the last time we got back from a week away, Kinikini demanded the most attention. He hides from our cat sitters, so is the most deprived when we get back.
About 1:30 a.m., he woke up crazy for love, and refused to take “no” for an answer. He walked back and forth across me, paddling and drooling, repeatedly pushed his head under my hands to create his own petting, nipped any exposed body parts when I tried to just hide under the covers. Usually after a few minutes, he’s willing to spread out between my legs and go back to sleep, but not after we’ve been gone. Some switch flipped in his brain and he was not to be deterred or discouraged. Finally, in desperation, I put him out in the hall and closed the door, which of course made me feel guilty as all get-out, but was the only way I could get any more sleep.
He worked off much of that on Thursday. By Thursday night, he only had a couple of short periods of attention seeking, and I was able to soon go back to sleep.
Kali has also been very “present” throughout the day, looking for opportunities to throw herself down near us and let out a loud squeaky meow of pleasure!
I have to say that Bessie has been more like her normal self. We always say that she’s the least neurotic and most “normal” of our cats.
In any case, enjoy this rushed version of Feline Friday. All photos taken on Thursday after our return.
