Ah, this was a week for a V-E-T visit.

Two of our three earned the honors. Bessie because she was late for her annual check-up, and Kinikini because he’s FIV positive and so we are keeping close tabs on him to avoid potential medical issues.

Bessie, we learned, is capable of a being very loud! And she cried most of the way from our house to the Hawaii Kai Veterinary Clinic. It really isn’t very far, but a crying cat adds to the sense that lots of time is passing.

But after a thorough check-up, Dr. Ann Sakamoto (our regular vet who we highly recommend) declared them in good shape! Both cats behaved themselves. I did remind Dr. Sakamoto that Kinikini is kind of a biter, but he didn’t even try to nip her or her vet tech, even while he was restrained and getting his claws trimmed!

Kinikini weighed in at 13.8 pounds, essentially unchanged since his last weigh-in, which I believe was in September.

Bessie 9.2 pounds.

Since they are strictly indoor cats, they were able to skip all the vaccinations this time around.

They both have some dental issues, but no major changes, and nothing demanding immediate attention, except to try various techniques for attacking the evil dental plaque.
