Trimming the mango trees, and the change of seasons, has added more afternoon sun to the cats’ environment. Well, to our living room, which they have laid claim to.
This week…watch for the photo of Bessie sitting in front of the kitchen window. I interrupted her bird watching, and you can see some of the birds gathered on the front lawn for her viewing pleasure. I think she must have been a serious birder when living outdoors.
I’m afraid the cats are all due for an annual checkup. I don’t know which is worse. Rounding them up and getting then into cat carrier, or getting the bill when it’s over.
Anyway, here come the cats!

As a first-time cat keeper, it’s interesting to hear the different sounds he makes. When he sees birds from the window, he makes an unusual clicking/chirp sound. Only hear that sound when he sees birds. Do most cats do that? He is an indoor cat, but seems to have a strong hunting instinct. Adopted from HHS very young so not much time in the wild.
Yes, the chirping is their hunting behavior. I don’t really understand it, since silence would seem to be the best approach. But they all do it. Poised to leap, adrenaline running, and they start the chirping. So he’s doing the right thing.
Bessie looks the best! Getting a little chunky, eh ? ” She was my steady date, Until she put on weight, Uh UHUH ”
They are getting that ‘faraway look’ those two olders. Maybe stay home a couple weeks? LOL
Well, Romeo has discovered the garage. Now about a third of the times we come home and open the door from the garage, he’s ready and waiting, and blasts right past us. He then heads under the car, where I can’t pick him up and carry him back inside. I’ve let him do several rounds of sniffing. At some point, if he won’t come out, I go into the house and close the door behind me. Cats hate closed doors. It’s in their DNA somehow. Anyway, I wait about 60 seconds, and he’s almost always at the door very, very ready to come back inside. He’s spooked when the door shuts him out in the strange environment, even though he’s the one that goes racing out. Cats. Go figure.
