Read the 8-page letter from Danielle Sassoon, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, explaining her decision to resign rather than follow orders to drop the corruption charges against NY Mayor Eric Adams.
She is not alone in her decision to resign in protest.
Not since Richard Nixon’s reign has there been a similar flurry of resignations by those who say the Trump administration is improperly and blatantly using the legal system for its own political ends.

But does it do any good for justice? Would it be better to remain and fight?
How would one fight this? The boss says stop. The higher ups already don’t want to follow the law. The oversight structure is being torn apart, and mainstream apparently either approves or doesn’t care (53% approval rating for Trump) It seems there aren’t many options..
Might one liken it to Plea Deals that DA’s in our Federal Court system foster if it is for the greater good?
No. Plea deals result in a conviction.
The Federal Case of Former NFL Player (Brett Favre):
Charges: Former NFL player Brett Favre was under investigation for misusing funds for welfare and state aid in Mississippi.
Outcome: The charges against him were dropped in exchange for cooperating but did not require an admission of guilt in the plea agreement.
His cooperation may have helped prosecutors obtain convictions against others.
Federal system: The little fish eats the big fish.

If Adams offered Trump a plain cash bribe–‘I’ll give you $1M to get the charges dropped’–that would be bribery.
In this case, Adams offered a political consideration–assistance with Trump’s initiative to round up and deport illegals.
A material consideration has still been offered. I say it is still bribery.
The value of the material consideration may be calculated in man-hours of NYC personnel helping to arrest illegals and the costs associated with the use of city facilities such as jails, vehicles, communications, etc.
One hitch would be that the material was not transferred to Trump personally. Only the political value of greater success in rounding up illegals accrues to Trump.
But, if otherwise-legal campaign contributions can be considered a bribe, I say this can too.
Opinions?

A prosecutor always has discretion in determining whether or not to bring charges. An employee always has discretion to quit if they don’t agree with a directive from the boss.
Agreed.
They only went after Adams when he wasn’t liberal enough for the liberal rulers and didn’t want to play their illegal alien game. You should see how mad the people who live around where they warehouse the illegals are.
