I was just drinking my coffee this morning when I noticed that the cloudy, wet weather was creating wonderful rich light that accentuated the colors in the yard.
So I grabbed a camera and headed outside!
I think it was worth it.

Absolutely lovely, peaceful.
Aloha Ian, you mentioned the mango trees were planted at yours and your siblings birth, is it a dwarf variety or regular pruning keeps it short? Great photos
Actually, the larger tree, a haden, is pretty big, perhaps bigger than it looks in those photos. But, yes, we do have to trim them back regularly. I don’t know if they reach some natural limit if left to their own devices, but we have to keep them under control.
Did you hire a landscaper or did you design and plant your yard yourself?
Most of the landscaping dates back to my mother’s choice of plants and their placement, with a landscape company filling in the gaps later after we did a major renovation of the house before moving from Kaaawa.
Recognizing an opportunity????
Such Beautiful photos. Thank you for sharing, Ian. I am reminded of just how lucky we are to live in Hawai’i. There is no other place than home.
It’s wonderful to have your back yard for a photo shoot and just add water! Thanks for sharing your pictures.
