My 7th grade class photo. Fall of 1959 or Spring of 1960.
I had graduated from the 6th grade at Kahala Elementary School in 1959. When September 1959 rolled around, I started the new year at University High School in Honolulu, often referred to as the University of Hawaii Lab School.
I posted this photo for the first time a number of years ago, but thought I would share it again following our recent 60th high school reunion.
How in the world do I find these things? Frankly, I don’t know. I scanned this at some point and just ran into it again back in 2018.
What I remember most about the transition to 7th grade is that we suddently were required to wear shoes every day in 7th grade. That was a shock, and I remember being very upset about it.
If you haven’t figured it out, that’s me in the middle of the back row.
