This photo was likely taken in the 1920s somewhere in Hawaii.
The mountains in the photo should make it possible to identify where it was taken.

Bellows
agree
Somewhere not in Hawaii.
This is Makua cave on the Waianae coast!!!
Wai’alae Beach Park, same place as the photo at the top o your page
Kailua Beach
Looks a lot like Maili beach park, but the ocean front mountain and reef jutting out off the beach means it is Makaha.
Photo looks to have been taken from Makapuu Beach. Rabbit Island on the far right and KMCAS between it and the Waianae Mountain range.
Diamond head to the left, Koko volcano in the middle… northeast end of Waikiki bay??? fort derussy beach park?
I have no idea where this picture was taken but I can guess that there were no lifeguards on duty, the kids were not wearing sun screen, and there were no adults or family members to hover over them like helicopters. Definitely no life jackets.
It’s Makaha Beach looking south toward Lahilahi Point and, in the distance, Maili Point. This can be confirmed by searching “Makaha beach park photos” and looking under the “images” tab.
Do you know the answer, Ian? I spent a good portion of my morning on this :-).
