I should just let the cats bask in their Feline Friday glory, but today is the Summer Solstice and it seems appropriate to share a few photos from our early morning walk. And this involves giving some of our favorite morning dogs equal time.
We’ve been running into these two beautiful dogs pretty regularly on our early morning walks on the beach.
When they spot us in the distance, they start dragging their person toward us.
I tried to tell them to “sit,” but they were just too excited.
All for a few quick pets and one small Milk Bone apiece. Their excitement seems out of proportion to the payoff, but I guess it’s all part of the whole package. Attention, a bite of food, and more attention!
Anyway, my phone caught most of this morning’s interaction!
It started raining a few minutes later, interrupting our walk.
It’s been a while since I posted a selection of my favorite photos of our Kahala Morning Dogs taken over this past week.
We’re fortunate to have a bunch of dogs who are happy to see us (and the treats we carry!) when we’re out for our early morning walk to see the sunrise. Most are small dogs (Ruby is VERY small). There are a couple who don’t get treats, at the request of their people. They settle for petting and verbal strokes. All are very happy.
In any case, here are a dozen from this past week (right up through this morning).
Jake and Pepper have become a skilled tag team of early morning dog-biscuit begging! Pepper starts the sound effects as soon as she sees us and launches in our direction, her high-pitched cries announcing her approach. Jake used to just stand by and jump excitedly, but unfortunately started howling to match Pepper’s yowls.
