Bbeni started out kind of shy, but no more. That ended when he figured out that treats were being dispensed. Now he lines up with the rest of the crew.
But what a face!
Our early morning walk was spiced up by a bunch of our favorite dogs!
A few things of note. Welcome Jackson, who recently moved from the mainland with his family. He’s a mini Australian sheep dog. What a looker! He has so far declined our dog treats, but ran to greet us this morning. He was having a great time playing with that toy, whether chasing it or playing tug-of-war with it. He hasn’t yet joined in with the whole gang, but we’ll see.
Poppy isn’t a newcomer, but we haven’t seen her in quite a while.
We were on Sugi’s schedule today, after not seeing her much recently. That was a treat.
Jake and Pua put on quite a show. They’re about evenly matched. Jake is just over a year old, weighs in now at just under 11 pounds. He has outgrown his official Toy Poodle measurements, at least by a small amount. Pua, the little Yorkshire Terrier, is almost five months, and she’s already 8 pounds. At some point, I noticed that Jake was trying to pick up and carry Pua’s leash. Jake has the yellow leash, while Pua’s is red. And Jake wanted to grab and carry Pua’s red leash while she ran around. As I say, it was quite a show.
Pua seems to be signalling with those ears. One up, one floppy.
Anyway, this was how our day started.
That was our early morning.
After walking down to the beach park and surveying the weather, we decided to just turn around and walk home rather than continuing on to see some of our canine friends, which involved walking toward the rain that was drifting our way.
So that’s what we did. We walked home.
Poured some coffee.
And when I looked up, the light on my mango tree caught my attention. I consider it “my” tree because it was planted at the time of my birth.
In any case, here are two views of this morning.
The first, at the beach park looking toward the ocean.
The second is just out in our back yard looking up at my tree.
We saw some beautiful spots over the past week, but nothing like our regular morning views!
I should say that our United flight from San Francisco arrived about 7 minutes early, and we were home before 8:30 pm.
Our cat sitter barely caught sight of Kinikini and Kali in our absence. They mainly hid from her, reverting to their more wild cat colony days. Bessie filed the void, and apparently ended up with more than her share of the food while we were gone. A few extra ounces were added, for sure.
But when we unlocked the door and walked into the house, both of them were right there waiting for us, and both were demanding a lot of attention. That continued through the night. Both Kali and Kini slept with me, a very unusual occurrence. But by the time we finished our coffee and fruit this morning, they were getting back to normal, and have both now retreated into the normal cat nap routines.
Hopefully I’ll get caught up and back to regular blog posts soon.
