Well, just a few days after Kali flunked her V-E-T visit, the cats are back with another Feline Friday.
She mellowed right out as soon as we were back home from the V-E-T. And you would never guess, looking at these photos, that she’s not one of those cats intimidated by an office visit.
Today we picked up two different flavors of Pill Pockets by Greenies. These are supposed to be yummy bits in which pills can be concealed and are capable of getting past the defenses of fussy cats.
And my goal is getting a couple of Gabapentin pills into Kali so that we can see if they mellow her out enough for me to trim her claws and, perhaps, let Dr. Sakamoto give Kali a thorough examination.
Well, the first hurdle is finding out if the cat in question is at all interested in them.
I started with the catnip flavor, passing a few out as treats. The score: The pill pockets are batting just 1 for 4. Bessie actually ate two of them. Kinikini and Kali had no interest. Kiko gave a somewhat interested lick, but got no closer to actually eating it.
I’ll try again when they’re hungry and fussing for their evening meal. This time I’ll offer a few of the salmon flavor.
Fingers crossed!
It’s pretty amazing. At one time each of our cats was living outdoors, surviving by hunting or preying on human sympathies. Where in the world did they learn to be so picky about what they eat?
While I continue to ponder that question of the ages, here’s another week of photos for your end-of-the-week enjoyment.
