Another week, another Feline Friday!

Just a few items to note about this week’s feline photos….

Check out Kiko and Kinikini, stretched out end to end, monopolizing our bed for their nap. No wonder some nights seem to get quite crowded!

One photo catches Bessie getting a drink from one of the Elfin Fountains now serving up running water in the house. The cats love them! We’re four months into our fountain experience, and they have proved to be very popular! They’re available under a couple of different brands, but appear identical.

Another photo shows Kiko splayed out in one of her awkward sleeping positions, with Kali right next to her. Kiko had taken over the pillow that has been Kali’s territory, and although Kali didn’t throw her out, it looked like she was considering her options. I don’t know how this conflict turned out!

Apart from that, just more of their smiling faces to cheer up the end of your week.

Feline Friday-April 11, 2025

The view from there

It was a few minutes after takeoff from Honolulu’s main airport, and suddenly there was this fine view of the islands to the east of Oahu.

Here are the islands in this lineup.

Closest to the camera is Molokai, with its mountainous east end in clouds. Behind Molokai are the West Maui Mountains, and behind them is Haleakala. Next are the Big Island peaks in the distance, Mauna Kea and, to the right and only partially visible, Mauna Loa.

I took this with my iPhone 15 Pro, held in one hand and reaching across Meda to the window, as I attempted to aim in the right direction.

Do you suppose airline pilots ever get tired of this view?

Sample photos using S9 camera with 28-200mm Panasonic lens

I’ve been using this lens since it arrived at the end of February. About 1,200 photos later, I’ve gotten to like it.

It pairs well with the Panasonic S9, which is a relatively small full frame digital camera. The lens has proved capable of good, sharp photos, even in morning twilight, or inside our house with available light.

I haven’t seen it reviewed much, and so wanted to share my initial experience.
