‘Tis the season!

Another glass ballAnother bit of luck today. Just after dawn, and we were on the beach at the other end of Kaaawa. Dennis, who lives across the street and regularly fishes along that stretch of beach, was standing near the water talking to a man with two dogs. Of course, I was heading over to say hello to the dogs and, perhaps, the people.

I was just getting closer, entering that zone where you had better have an excuse for invading their personal space, when I looked down to check out the dogs. At my feet, not more than five feet from where they were standing, was this small glass ball. Not much bigger than a golf ball. Cute. Somehow they were into their conversation and didn’t notice it there at their feet.

I felt a little guilty about picking it up right in front of them. Then Dennis said that we had missed another ball yesterday. The tide was high, and we had avoided a the risk of wet shoes by walking along the road to avoid one narrow section of beach. While we were up along the road, Dennis found a glass ball on the sand. Since he got that one yesterday, I no longer felt guilty about grabbing this one.
