I found a few photos of the Kamehameha Day parade in 1957 among a bog of negatives carefully filed away by my mother years ago. The negatives are sorted and stored in old, now-yellowed, paper envelopes, certainly far from great treatment. But I was able to get reasonably good scans from this batch.

The vantage point was across from Kawaiahao Church at the corner of King and Punchbowl. The first photo, looking Diamond Head along King Street, reminds us how downtown Honolulu looked two years before statehood.
