A reader in Punaluu recommends the Algalita Marine Research Foundation‘s web site for its information on the plastics in the ocean environment.

This next site has nothing to do with plastics, but is a great source of info and ideas. Real Time Investigations is a project of the Sunlight Foundation which tracks two journalists digging through the Congressional system.

Lots of fun stuff here, including a link to OMB’s searchable database of Congressional earmarks, stuff stuck into the budget by individual members to take care of business. I just did a quick search for “Hawaii” and came up with quite a list.

Here’s a small collection of my favorites from the month of May, all taken during our early morning walks down to the beach. We’ve been doing this regularly for 11 years and it still hasn’t gotten old. I occasionally wonder why it never loses that edge of wonder, and I long ago decided the experience is like a symphony, each performance has nuances and details that set it apart from other renditions of the same score.
