The Advertiser got this scoop yesterday–Duke Bainum is again talking about jumping back into politics.

“I’m looking at several races,” Bainum, who owns a place in Trimble’s district, told The Advertiser on Tuesday. “I am considering getting back in politics.”

Asked specifically about a state Senate campaign, Bainum said: “I’m looking at several races. I have not ruled out the mayor’s race or the state Senate. I’m looking at all options.”

Now, I liked Duke when he was in the legislature and on the city council, but isn’t this just a tiny bit presumptuous? He ran for mayor and lost, then effectively disappeared, largely abandoning the islands and the city. Now he’s “looking at all options” and thinks perhaps he deserves to be a senator or, once again, mayor? One thing I’ve got to admit…that’s one very strong ego.

I do notice, though, that this is the second time a similar trial balloon has been released. Back in October 2005, Duke made similar comments.
