Authorities clearly decided to rely on overwhelming force here in Denver during the convention. On Sunday afternoon, the city was going broke paying an army of heavily armed police officers what must have been overtime pay. There were bicycle squads, mounted squads (as in horses and riders), motorcycle teams, etc., etc. Highly mobile affinity groups of protests, some proudly carrying banners of the anarchist black and red, vied for strategic position with equally mobile squads of armed police looking like ninja turtles in their riot gear.
In any case, this batch of photos will take you from the rail station next to the Hawaii delegation’s hotel to the streets of the city.
Nothing fancy here, just what I happened upon during a couple of hours in the city.
More tomorrow.

Fab Photos, Ian. Keep’m coming! We know Honolulu is devoid of public restrooms. How’s the bathroom situation in Denver during this busy time?
How quickly is the sanitation department following behind the horses?
