Crackdown doesn’t slow jaywalking

Crackdown doesn’t slow jaywalking, originally uploaded by ilind.

I’m waiting to be picked up at the scene of a recent crackdown on
jaywalking. No tickets being given right now, and dozens have headed
straight across the street to the parking lot in just 10 minutes or so.
Lot’s more tickets to be given out here!

Doesn’t it make more sense to simply create a cross walk. Obviously the market is in crossing the street there.

Yes, a crosswalk should just be established there. Does it really make sense to have people walk to either end of the street to cross over to get to 711 Kapi`olani? The traffic is not so heavy on Curtis that it couldn’t temporarily stop for pedestrians.
