Honolulu Advertiser Publisher Lee Webber sent an email to staff this morning forwarding a letter from Gannett’s publishing division president, Bob Dickey. Here’s Lee’s email and a link to Dickey’s letter. Bottom line: 10% nationwide staff cut in 30 days.
As you can see from today’s headline, Hawaii is suffering the same economic slide as the balance of the nation and the vast majority of the world.
You are also well aware of the fact that we have been working our way through our own set of trials. This will continue with our eyes fixed firmly on the light at the end of the tunnel.
This must be a team effort if we are to succeed and I have faith in the fact that we can and will function as a team.
Attached is a letter from Bob Dickey that was released early this morning and I thought it imperative that I share it with you as soon as possible.
My sincere Mahalo nui loa for your continued cooperation and hard work as we continue to maintain the Advertiser’s position as Hawaii’s #1 source of news and information for readers, advertisers and visitors to our great state.
Lee
