This episode has generated a lot of discussion and response, even more than the debate over pop-up ads.
I’ve been surprised today to find out how many people are concerned that my liberal tendencies might cause me to withhold the photo evidence from the police.
Do not fear.
All the photos, including the one of the suspect, went to HPD just before 3 p.m.
Now it’s in their court. The beat officer can’t question the suspect in this kind of case, or so I was told. That’s up to the detective assigned to the case, and I don’t know if that assignment has been made at this point.
The existence of the photo likely turns this from just another case sitting in a stack, to a case that could actually produce a result.
Oh, one thing–taking another look at the photo. It looks like the suspect (is that what I should call the young man standing in our kitchen and getting ready to make off with a bunch of our “stuff”?) has put his socks on his hands. Not plastic bags, which was my first interpretation.
Not that it matters much, I suppose.
Our insurance company (State Farm) has been very good. An initial report has been made, claim number assigned, and now they’re just waiting for our inventory of items that were taken.
First Hawaiian Bank got the message a little garbled, but did put a temporary hold on our account as I requested, just in case blank checks were taken and an attempt is made to use them.
Elite Security Systems, recommended by a good friend, is coming out to provide a quote on a new security set-up.
I still have to worry about replacing the screens that were cut to get into the house.
Thanks for your concern.
