It’s been almost two weeks since our burglary, and feeling very patriotic, I helped the country by investing in a new Canon G10 camera. It’s a large small camera, if that makes sense. Not pocket-size, unless you have heavy duty pockets, but it is relatively small compared to current digital SLRs.
This morning was the test run. Charge battery, put camera together, turn on for first time, walk to the beach, put camera to first use.
It handled most of the photos well except for this scene. The bright part of the sky was totally “blown out” leaving no details. I processed it twice, once to recover the detail in that area and once to get the rest of the picture exposed relatively well, and then merged the two images. This is the quick-and-dirty version, good enough to show as an initial sample but needing a little cleaning up later.
My first impression–I’m going to like this camera better than its predecessor. It’s reasonably fast, controls are accessible, and there’s lots of detail in the ultra-pixel images.
