Friday (2)…Friday Felines: The cats of City Feed

[text]
It’s Feline Friday once again, but today’s photos do not feature any of the eight cats in our household.

There’s a story to these two.

My father’s bed in the nursing facility is on the third floor next to a window that looks down onto Beretania Street. Almost directly across the street is a small building that houses City Feed. I haven’t been inside the store in years, but I’ve been looking down at it during my visits while talking with my dad or waiting for him to wake up from a nap.

That’s when I noticed the cats.

First I saw just one, sitting on a stack of large bags of animal feed just inside the door. He ran inside when a bicycle passed by on the sidewalk. The next time I visited, there he was again. And this time I thought I could see Cat #2 in the shadows.

[text]I finally walked in with camera in hand a couple of days ago. Both cats promptly appeared to check out the visitor. They appear to have the run of the store which, by the way, stocks an excellent variety of cat foods (as well as food for parrots, rabbits, dogs, you name it) and at pretty good prices.

In the few minutes I was there, another regular customer arrived to pick up a bag of cat food and fuss over the store cats, who did seem to appreciate all the attention.

I walked out with several good photos and a 10 pound bag of Science Diet “Active Longevity”, and told myself that I’ll visit these guys again.

City Feed is the best! Their prices are good, the selection & quality of pet foods is great, the service is excellent, and I’m always partial to any establishment that has guard cats on duty.

I have been a customer of City Feed for years! The guy is great – very friendly and even carries my heavy dog food bag into my car whenever I come. I love supporting these small local companies!

I am allergic to cats to no petting for me but these are the offspring of another former cat that ws the City Feed cat for years.
