A simple pasta

It was a simple pasta last night.

A few chicken thighs, skin removed, into the pan with olive oil, anchovies, garlic and hot red peppers, chopped. Left to simmer until tender. Add a bit of water as necessary to keep the chicken moist.

Then, while the whole wheat pasta was cooking, into the pan went a large handful of those small sweet peppers from Costco, along with a handful of fresh basil and a smaller amount of fresh cilantro.

Served with salad, a little piece of french bread, wine, and Ms. Kili standing by.

Oh, that’s Meda’s recent glass ball find in the foreground.

Is there a trick to getting a cat to simply sit next to food on the dinner table? I’m always impressed with the ‘stoic’ cat on the table that often accompanies your meal posts.

Luckily, although Ms. Kili likes to take up a position near the food, she isn’t much interested in the actual food. She seems more inclined towards the company, and the status she gets from being close to the action. Harriet, though, wants to taste the people food. Some nights she has to have a timeout in the bathroom while we’re eating. Silverman sits at my feet and begs, as does Romeo on occasion. Stoic is the minority, but good for photos.

Thanks. My little guy usually doesn’t need a timeout, but has to be removed from the table a few times to get the message that the food isn’t for him.

Hey, I recognize those peppers! Coincidentally, today for lunch I chopped up five of them, sauteed them along with onion in olive oil, stirred in last night’s left over (whole wheat) spaghetti and marinara then folded in a handful of arugula leaves.
