8 p.m. And the kitchen exploded with motion. It turned out to be Ms. Wally in pursuit of a mouse. Unfortunately, she didn’t catch up with it. It disappeared in the kitchen once again. So Wally is back to a watchful vigil. Great!

do the other cats pitch in?
Sometimes, but not all have the same hunting instinct. Sometimes a big rodent sends most of the male cats running for cover at high speed. It seems to be the females who are most capable in the hunting area, at least in this particular cohort of cats. Wally’s been staring at the refrigerator for several days, and I couldn’t tell if she was tracking prey or continuing her begging for food. Now we know.
