Seals in Waikiki

[text]People out early in Waikiki yesterday got an unusual treat–two Hawaiian Monk Seals sleeping on Kuhio Beach. Later in the morning, they continued swimming towards Ala Moana.

Waikiki Resident Michael Peters was lucky enough to be there and sent along several photos. Just click on this picture for more photos.

I saw a monk seal basking on the Green Sand Beach at South Point a few years ago. She was resting up after a storm.
Glad to see this pair kicking back and enjoying Waikiki Beach!

We saw a monk seal yesterday in Kawela Bay just beyond Turtle Bay. Was able to watch him “scrunch” his way back into the Ocean and return to sea. Very special.

I understand a duo (Irma and Kermit) like to hang in Waikiki from time to time.

I’m always lifted when I come across news like this instead of the other (which makes me cry). Thanks for sharing!
