Here are two mystery photos, found among a handful of stray slides that were in my dad’s “stuff”. They date to sometime in the 1950s. Click on either photo for a larger version.
I’m wondering if the man in glasses on the right (in the top photo) could be Chinn Ho.
In order to put on the Makaha International Surfing Championships, held for the first time in 1954, my father enlisted the cooperation and support of Chinn Ho, who already was a landowner in the area. I suppose it’s possible these pictures were taken at a meeting during that period.
A photo of an older Ho appeared in a 2006 Honolulu Advertiser profile of Chinn Ho, and is shown below.
Otherwise, I have no idea who these people might be.
