Two Waikiki funerals 61 years apart

Sometime back, I posted photos from what was obviously a group of people at a funeral in Waikiki, including men from the Waikiki Surf Club, dressed for the water. Later, I did some digging, and found other references to the event, which took place in February 1949.

After saying goodbye to my dad in the same way last month, the old photos gave me a tangible sense of being part of an old and ongoing tradition.
