Friday Felines on Christmas Eve

Here comes Feline Friday, Christmas Eve edition.

Let me say it–I agree with Dave Shapiro’s Christmas lament (The night before the holiday we don’t mention). Thanks for putting that on the record, Dave! And Merry Christmas.

If you want more laughs, check out Ricky Gervais’ Holiday message (Why I’m an Atheist).

Now, on to Feline Friday.

First, if you missed by commentary on feline diabetes this past Monday on Hawaii Public Radio, you can listen to it here (mp3 file).

TobyCan I pretend that the absence of any Santa, reindeer, or other Christmas imagery is an attempt to be PC? Probably not. We just haven’t had time to unpack the little box of cat-Christmas stuff since we were traveling during that crucial week before Christmas.

In any case, before today’s Feline Friday photo gallery, here’s a little cat update. We picked up Silverman and Duke from the vet yesterday. Both seem to be doing fine, although Silverman is still a little slow. Unfortunately, I missed connecting with our vet so haven’t yet gotten a detailed report on their latest glucose tests. But both cats came home with good appetites, which is a plus.

The featured photo is Mr. Toby at breakfast this morning. He successfully begged for a spoonful of cottage cheese, one of his favorite foods. Just click on his photo for the rest of today’s cats.

Feline Friday almost didn’t happen this week. My “big” camera was left in town for safekeeping while we were gone, and I haven’t retrieved it yet. My Canon S90’s battery died while on the trip. I think it was a victim of the cost. That leaves my trusty Canon G10, which is too slow responding to do a good job on the cats. But today it will have to do.

Enjoy.

And so it goes on this Christmas Eve.

We enjoy Christmas, but my kids will grow up understanding the true origins of the holiday season (after they figure out the Santa thing for themselves). Christianity is, of course, but only a part of the story.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas ! I heard you have been naughty. I just dropped off a five pound bag of coal down your chimney. You can use it for your next barbeque. Ho! Ho! Ho!
