We couldn’t walk at our regular time this morning. It was too dark and too wet, after a long night of thunder, lightning, and intermittently heavy rain. I finally started to watch the radar images as the weather moved through, and noticed a break. So we charged out.
The sun made its appearance as we hit the straightaway on Kamehameha Highway across from Polinalina Road, and I started snapping pictures. It was an awesome sunrise, quite literally. After hours of stormy weather, the dramatic sunrise had me surreptitiously listening for the sound of celestial trumpets, which would have been an appropriate backdrop.
So here it is–Sunrise in Kaaawa, December 26, 2010. And do click on it to see the larger (and even more dramatic) version.

Gorgeous color palette. lucky we live hawaii.
Breathtaking. The colors especially. Copy stolen for my screensaver! (With your name added to the filename for proper credit.)
Sometime in the summer, I criticized the way you framed certain of your pictures in the set you took of a new condo in Kaaawa as compared to some neighboring old time homes.
Without regard to the picture framing standards I had espoused and you disputed, the composition of this picture is magnificent.
Thanks for posting it.
