Films show Hawaii in the 1930s

The photo and story of the 1939 luau brought lots of comments, so I thought I would share this link to several old movies of pre-WWII Hawaii by Arthur and Kate Tode.

In a quick search, I haven’t found out anything about the couple, although clearly they had enough money to travel the world.

The files are in the collection of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, and available for online viewing. They are also available for download.

Just another glimpse of that old Hawaii.
