Kaaawa at dawn: June 2011

Rain over the oceanI like the month of June. The sun rises early, well before 6 a.m. It’s early enough that we’re not tempted to rush in order to get to the beach before the sun makes its appearance. Instead, we leave the house around 6 and see more of the colors of morning. By the end of June, the sun pauses and then begins its swing back across the sky and the clock. Within a few months, we’ll be back in sync with those wonderful pre-dawn colors.

This June was wet, and you can see that in the photos. Many mornings with rain and dark clouds, streams digging their way through the sand to reach the ocean.

In any case, enjoy the photos.

Good luck on getting the “personal watercraft” removed from the beach – the State and C&C can’t even agree on who has to remove abandoned boats from Honolulu streets:

Some of those boats are still there years later.

Great pictures, thank you! And I fully agree with getting the wires underground, they are such an eyesore, not to mention a safety issue.
