Mr. Toby welcomes you to another Feline Friday. In this picture, he’s guarding the front steps. Or simply enjoying the yard from a distance, perhaps, surveying all that goes on out there.
Cat news? Not too much. Half the cats are still clueless about the no-longer-new cat doors. This group includes Wally, Harriet, Toby, and Duke. The other four go in and out as they please, while these four fuss about being “trapped” in the house all the time.
We had to make a very early morning appointment in town on Wednesday. Somehow the cats seemed to know something was up. As we went to bed Tuesday night, there was a scramble for positions. Duke was there at Meda’s feet. Toby came up and sat on my chest. Wally grabbed a spot up between us near the pillows and growled a warning to any cat looking her way. Romeo was jockeying for a spot at my feet. And both Annie and Kili were on the floor circling the bed, looking for an opportunity to jump up. Only Harriet and Silverman were not aiming for spots on the bed. I wish there had been a camera available! What a scene.
It’s been a little over a year since Duke was diagnosed with diabetes and started getting twice-daily insulin injections. He is now relatively stable, although it looks like his insulin will be permanent. We’re still trying to get Silverman to a stable state after 9 months or so.
And so it goes.

Just want you to know how much I appreciate the cat “visit” each week. Thanks for thinking of all of us!
