Po sends his greetings from Kaaawa

In our 15+ years of walking to the beach every morning at dawn, we’ve gotten to know several generations of dogs.

We live with eight cats at home. No dogs. So we claim bits of time with other people’s dogs. It’s our way of keeping in touch with the thousands of years of human-canine co-evolution. Along the way, I’ve gotten some great photos of many of our regulars.

PoThis is Mr. Po, who until recently lived next door to us in Kaaawa. Now he’s moved a few blocks away with his buddy, Alvie, and his people. But they were out in the yard one morning this week when we walked by, so we got to say hello and catch up a bit.

Today’s batch of Kaaawa morning dogs also includes Bruce, a 10-month old (maybe 11 by now) Great Dane who was having a great time at the beach when we ran into him. Bruce is a growing boy, as you’ll see. He’s also a great friend of Ms. Bella, who lives there along the beach with Piko and Murphy.

Yes, we know all the dogs, and slowly meet the people as well. It’s a great way to know the community.

Quite appropriate. A post on Po immediately following a post about dead things. Po is the portal to the other side for the newly dead. Ka’ena point is also Po. Thought to be the point of departure for the soul to the beyond.
