Today’s Feline Friday features even more photos of our favorite cats than usual! I hope most of you think that’s good news. And today’s pictures are better than normal, too. At least I think so. You’ll have to form your own opinion.
I’ll let Mr. Silverman introduce today’s gallery. He’s proving that law of feline behavior–an empty box is better than any cat toy you can buy. Guaranteed!
This is the box that Amazon.com used to deliver two cases of anchovies, a dozen 2 oz. cans in each. We’ve already started eating our way through them. But that’s beside the point. Empty boxes and cats just seem to be made for each other. The tighter the fit, the more they like the box. Or so it seems.
The week in cats has been relatively uneventful, except that Romeo is on boundary patrol again. He can get himself all worked up, pacing and whining if we don’t let him out. And once out, he’s out guarding the borders of his territory along the back side of our yard. We haven’t seen the other cat that presumably is causing this behavior, but I have treated some scratches on the top of his head. Hopefully nothing goes to an abscess like it did the last time around. Cross your fingers.
Today’s photo gallery features 25 pictures, quite a few with that fine new lens I bought a month or two ago. I’m a happy camper as far as it is concerned.
Anyway, on to the show.

Cats and boxes… strange indeed. Our cats seem to love them, too. And the occasional plastic bag. On a similar note, one their cat-fishing poles broke, leaving just a stub of string on the end. This stub of string (sans feather thing) was even more exciting to them. Until that, too, got shredded and I had to retire it for good. It was a sad day in cat land.
Empty paper bags not quickly folded and put away are another instant attraction for cats.
I am looking at my cat Esme curled up on my cable box. I usually have to change out the boxes twice a year – they seem to not last very long…I wonder how much cat hair filters down through all those pukas…
The correct answer is “none whatsoever.”
My first thought when seeing Ian’s previous cable box/cat pictures was that a cat blocking the vent holes on the box would cause overheating and premature failure of the electronics inside. Your experience gives come support to that theory.
Adorable! It was wonderful finally meeting you and Ms. Meda at the Whitman event last night. It’s great to put a face to your blog, which I have been reading for years!
Bravo! 25 photos. Took me 2 days to get thru them. More! Hana Hou. Looking forward til next Friday.
