That’s what a friend said when he phoned early yesterday morning.
He and his family had just pulled three kittens out from under their house, where they had been crying for some time. The kittens’ eyes were just opening, so they are probably about 10 days old. They are at the stage where they need regular hand feeding.
Meda and I had to keep ourselves at arms length from the situation, given our struggle to tend to the seven cats we already have. But I drove right over to my friend’s house with some left-over powdered kitten formula that I’ve had in the refrigerator for just such an emergency. I was also able to provide a sterile eye dropper, instructions, and encouragement. I also put them in touch with some other resources for support and, perhaps assistance.
I have not checked back today for a status report.
However, if anyone has experience fostering very young kittens, and would be able to help with these, please let me know ASAP. I’ll then put you in touch with my friend.
Thanks in advance!
