This is a followup to yesterday’s surprise backyard papaya.
The first commenter asked for a photo of the tree, so I went down into the yard this morning to get the shot, and was surprised again that a second almost-ripe papaya was ready to pick.
You can see the little stunted tree in the background, although it’s hard to see that it is growing out at an angle, almost parallel to the ground.
So even our brown thumbs can occasionally enjoy a bit of success.

Looks like a solo, and extra worthwhile to nurture if it continues to be healthy and if the first shoots predated the ringspot virus woes.
Have you considered saving the seeds to make homemade dressing and/or to germinate? Our family misses the old-fashioned solo and probably isn’t alone; the new version just isn’t as tasty.
