California brothers indicted on corruption charges

Back in November, I called attention to Al Jazeera’s reporting of an FBI sting that netted a pair of California politicians.

This week, indictments were returned against California State Senator Ron Calderon and his brother, former Assemblyman Tom Calderon. The brothers face a laundry list of public corruption charges.

Al Jazeera’s story includes a link to the indictment and to its own earlier reporting.

Al Jazeera also reports the FBI is investigating how the news organization obtained documents describing the FBI sting. Their story includes a link to a document filed in court in which the government denies leaking the information on the sting.

Could any Hawaii lawmakers fall for an FBI sting of this kind? That’s something to think about.
