Another pre-beard photo, somewhere during my student days at Whitman College (probably in 1966-67), with my trusty Pentax Spotmatic. Yes, it’s a Delta Tau Delta fraternity shirt. The Delts provided a refuge for several Hawaii students, and I joined during my first year at Whitman.

I believe this was taken in a spot we called “Delt Island,” an area just outside of Walla Walla where we had an informal arrangement with the landowner to let us have occasional use of the area for fraternity parties. Not to condone under-age drinking, of course, but beer was an essential element of these gatherings, which happened several times a year.

Somehow, most of us survived.
