I was reading the Muck Rack Daily when I hit a mention of the death of photographer Jane Bown.
England’s well-respected Observer photographer Jane Bown has died at age 89, leaving colleagues and admirers to reflect on a life in photography – in pictures. “Oh, this is sad news. But what a body of work she leaves behind,” marvels MarketWatch’s Quentin Fottrell.
One of those links takes you to The Guardian website, with a diverse collection of Bown’s striking black & white photographs. Amazing.
I especially liked her portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on her 80th birthday. Down turned 80 the same year, according to the caption.
These are absolutely amazing photographs!

An extraordinary collection of photographs. I especially liked the one of Samuel Beckett.
