I’ve been sorting through books that I’ve hoarded for years, many well read, some still unread.
Yesterday this little sketch fell out of one of them.
It’s marked, “In the Marriott mirror. Chicago, Nov ’96.”
I had accompanied Meda to Chicago for the annual meetings of the American Society of Criminology. She conferenced. I relaxed.
I have no recollection of why it suddenly occurred to me to make this drawing or to save it.
But here it is, for the record.

Pretty good, Ian! Who knew you were an artist? 😉
Sounds like a SNL Richard Smiley a.k.a. Al Frankin moment….or sheer depression at the end of a rope…”Darn it, I am good enough, people like me and I am a nice guy”
GOOD job…as an artist I know my own self portrait will never see the light of day! lol
Not bad. I attempted a self-portrait once, and it does look like a caricature of me.
