Mr. Toby does the honors and welcomes you to this Feline Friday.

Toby’s special time is early each morning. I get up and stumble out through the kitchen to our dining table, where I set down with my computer and check the news while thinking about what might become the day’s blog entry. And then comes Toby!

He sets himself up to my left, and begins by sticking his face into mine and soliciting some petting. He might step over onto the keyboard, or do the “reacher paw” thing and see what he can get his claws into. Then he turns and starts rubbing his face on the top corner of the laptop screen, contributing to that dirty smudge that I have to constantly try to wipe clean.

He used to get more time with us down in the bedroom, but Kili, Romeo, and Annie seem to have captured that spot. If he does slip in for a few pets, one of the others will give him a swift whack and send him back down the hall.

Diplomatic relations among our felines are delicate, to be sure.
