Here’s another photo from the batch of recently discovered negatives that my dad had acquired at some point in his long life. The ones with dates go back to a period from 1947 to 1951.
At first, I didn’t recognize the airport. Then I realized that it’s Bellows Field in Waimanalo.
There’s a second, similar photo from a slightly different angle that I’ll try to post in the next day or so.

At one time Bellows was boasted as being the only U.S. Air Force Station in the world whose commanding officer was a non-com.
Do you know the back story on the Hawaiian airlines craft in these shots? Marketing fly bys perhaps?
Most of these include the HAL DC3s, and the negative envelopes are numbered, HAL-###. Not from one photo shoot, since the few that are dated span several years. Beyond that, it’s a mystery.
Over that big ridge and to the right of the photo, there appears to be a body of water. I’m guessing that is the “lake” around which developer Joe Pao built Enchanted Lake in the late 50s/early 60s.
