Mr. Duke welcomes you to another Feline Friday from his new home in Kahala.
I caught this photo of him a couple of days ago, and really like the soft light, the hint of the outdoors in the background, and relaxed overall tone.
In fact, Duke isn’t quite that relaxed. Like at least four of the cats, he is hard to find during the day. Unlike the other cats, he is too chubby to fit under a chair in the living room, one of the favorite and readily available hiding places. So Duke just sprawls out behind a chair, maybe symbolically sticking his head into the little dark cave under the seat, while his big body sprawls out on the floor.
Annie, on the other hand, is hard to find.
That worked against her earlier this week, when she disappeared for most of the day. Finally I went on a concerted search for her, and eventually discovered that she had snuck into the large pantry with pull out drawers that’s next to our refrigerator. The doors closed, and she apparently just went to sleep in there, and never made any sound when I was going around the house calling for her.
We’re now being even more careful about cats and doors.
No breaks for outside freedom yet. Well, not quite true. When the deck door was opened for a moment, Ms. Kili just strolled out onto the back deck to look around. Luckily, she isn’t one that will run off or make a break for one of the mango trees, so it wasn’t a problem. And, at least so far, other cats haven’t showed much interest in going outside.
Our fingers are crossed going forward.

Very nice photos of all your beautiful cats. Looks like some of them are adjusting better than others to their new home, but they’ll all get there eventually.
Good luck. Never know with cats. We’ve never had an indoor cat……all of ours have just shown up and adopted us. Have a cat door but our current king of the house prefers to scratch on the screen if we are visible so his masters will open the door for him.
