Artist Talk/Photographer PF Bentley
“Behind the Scenes in American Politics”

Photojournalist and documentary filmmaker PF BENTLEY has covered domestic and international politics and is known for earning unprecedented access to presidential candidates, heads of state, and Capitol Hill. He is a former Time magazine photographer and winner of five first place Picture of the Year awards for his political coverage. He has produced programming for ABC-TV Nightline, shot for The Travel Channel and helped create Reason.TV with Drew Carey, where he was senior producer and director of photography for the web network. PF taught Visual Journalism at Brooks Institute of Photography. A UH Manoa graduate, he received the Award of Distinction from the UH College of Education in 2004. In 2014, he was chief photographer for Honolulu Civil Beat and now works for such clients as Hawaii Business Magazine and Hana Hou.
Bentley’s presentation is co-sponsored by the University of Hawaii at Manoa Art Department and Pacific New Media.

PF discusses artistic creativity, approach, gear, technique and what it really takes to work as a documentary photographer or photojournalist in today`s digital visual world. After a brief lecture, you are sent out on a specific assignment, then return and show your selects for discussion and review.
